Asian Federation of Muslim Youth (AFMY) is a youth organization of

Muslim associations and individuals that shares common platform for presenting Islam, supporting Muslim youth organizations and individuals, developing educational, social and outreach programs and fostering good relations with other communities and organizations. AFMY’s annual general assembly is where the annual road map is set up for the coming calendar year. AFMY Newsletter is the Quarterly publication of AFMY.

The Asian Federation of Muslim Youth (AFMY), head quartered in Malaysia is an umbrella organization that describes itself as a unifying organization for Muslim Youth associations and individuals in the Asian region.

Founded in 2000 by group of its Founding members, AFMY is an umbrella organization that represents Muslim youth organizations and individuals and provides support to Muslim society in the Asian region.

Fifth AGM and 2nd IMB Concluded

Kota Bharu, MALAYSIA The fifth edition of Asian Federation of Muslim Youth (AFMY) AGM and the second International Muslim Business Forum was successfully concluded in Kelantan, Malaysia. Both events, jointly organized by AFMY and Kelantan state government was held at the New Pacific Hotel, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

AFMY's AGM which started on Friday, July 20 witnessed the participation from youth organizations from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Among the matters discussed were the need for Muslim youth organizations to unite for the betterment of the Ummah in the Asian region and globally.

US Officials Engage Muslim Youth

Cairo, EGYPT  Officials from the Homeland Security, State and Justice departments have been engaged in "unprecedented" meetings withtwo dozen young Muslims on several issues, topped by reports about the radicalization of Muslim American youth.

"For me, this conference is about trying to find out what it means to be an American Muslim in terms of political and civic engagement," Omar Sarwar, the Columbia University graduate who ditched a career in banking to go back to school and study politics and religion, told The Washington Post on Sunday, July 15.

Organized by the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), the National Muslim American Youth Summit was held over the weekend in Capitol Hill.

It brought together 27 young Muslims and officials from the departments of Homeland Security, State and Justice in the first ever such a high-profile meeting.

5th AGM & IMB 2007 in Kota Bharu

Kuala Terengganu, MALAYSIA The fifth edition of Asian Federation of Muslim Youth's (AFMY) Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia. The AGM is to take place at New Pacific Hotel, Kota Bharu.

As in the previous year, AFMY along with the state government of Kelantan will also organize the 2nd International Muslim Business Forum (IMB) which will also take place at the same venue.

IMB 2007 is to be officiated by The Honorable Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, Chief Minister of Kelantan. Several sessions with leading international business figures and academicians have been lined up for the 3 days event.

Yes, this is even true in the era of globalization and what many termed as the sweeping affect of the Internet revolution (some of us are still facing difficulties in dealing with Internet 2.0, and now, we have heard of the coming of Internet 3.0!).

Globalization and the arrival of the Internet have created ripples, not only those within the industries that bring about the birth of the Internet, but people who are not even in the industries! Free flow of information, culture and way of life have altered many, including that of our Ummah!

In the highly competitive market “created” by Globalization and the “Open Sky” policy associated with the Internet, youths have been targeted – all in the name of better “bottom line” or in other words, meeting the stakeholders’ expectations! Pure greed!

Today’s youths are no longer the ones that we know, say like the ones 10 or 15 years back. What many would term as the “ipod generation”- today’s youths tend to be more individualistic, materialistic and are entertainment hungry – all shaped by the “forces” of globalization and the Internet revolution.
